Many a thing running through my mind.
I feel... good. But slightly saddened at the same time.
My schedule has been pretty hectic lately, and if you know me well enough, you would know that I highly dislike schedules. I have been working 40 hours a week, and rehearsing for two different shows 5 days a week. 4 of those days being straight after work and the other being on a Sunday.
I have to say though, I love going to rehearsals. Works a bitch, but that's how it's supposed to be. Works a bitch and a career is... awesome (theoretically). Anywho, one of the has shows just finished and my hours are going to be cut down soon due to the store finally reopening, so I will finally have time to myself - which will be nice.
The show that just went was (of course) Alice in Wonderland. It was my first show really (minus things I did at school... but you know), and my god. I loved it. I started knowing only 3 or 4 people, and finished knowing 23492704 (approx.). And this is part of the reason I'm feeling pretty good/slightly sad.
You see, I think I have fallen in love with a little old place called The Playhouse Theater. The people I have befriended there (both younger and older) are just great. I've never met so many people in one place that I genuinely enjoy being around. No one really knew me in the beginning, but not long into it I felt welcome, and that my presence was more then just... well, welcome. But now that Alice in Wonderland has finished... I find myself regretting not talking to certain people more, and I find myself already missing going there and seeing everyone on a regular basis. It's like leaving school all over again... but different... as it is not a school. But you get the idea.
Tonight we had somewhat of a break-up do-on for the cast, there was much cake and much awesome. It was good... but really, it was pretty awesome. An enjoyable night all round. There were awards handed out to people that were nominated by both the crew and cast members for numerous things. Some were nice, some were quite funny, and some... well, didn't make sense. I got two, and it is the second one that I wish to briefly talk about. It was one of two awards (one for a boy and one for a girl) in which people basically voted for a boy and a girl that they enjoyed working with throughout the show. And I got the boy one, (not the girl one strangely enough). This just... made my night. It sounds stupid and whatnot, and I know not EVERYONE voted for me obviously, it was a majority vote. But, this is what I'm getting at. The people in this show made me feel accepted, welcome, and just great. And getting this award was like hearing an old friend say they miss you, but in a "new" context. It was one of the most positive moments I've had in a long time. There were no speeches or anything upon receiving an award, but a comment was not uncommon. When I got up to get it I'm pretty sure people may have expected me to say something, maybe have a joke. But I couldn't think of anything, all I could do was walk up, take it, and sit back down with a smile. Like I said, it sounds a little stupid. Because it's not like a prestige award or anything. It was just a small informal gathering of cast members having a bit of fun, but it's the little things that count, and to me that was one of them. Thank you guys.
The moral of the story is that I don't regret auditioning for Alice and joining The Playhouse as I have met many people (perhaps even developed a slight thing for one of them which no one really knows about), and I hope I can see them in a more social context now that the show is over.
Probably to be continued... I must sleep now.
